About the European Union Simulation (EuroSim) Winter Program

***This program is a closed registration (permission from instructor only) and restricted to Brockport students only. ***

The EuroSim (European Union Simulation) is organized by TACEUSS (TransAtlantic Consortium for European Union Studies and Simulations). Twelve American and twelve European universities are active members in the organization. This course facilitates student preparation for and participation in a simulation of the largest transnational regional experiment in European and world history- the European Union. The University of Antwerp in the city of Antwerp, Belgium, hosts the EuroSim conference. After the conference, students will travel to Prague in the Czech Republic to visit the cultural attractions.

Course Objectives:
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the functioning of European Union institutions- specifically the Council of Ministers, the European Parliament and the European Commission,
  • Analyze how cultural, economic, political, and regional characteristics are intricately woven through the European Union’s governance,
  • Formulate strategies for alliance building in the European Union with regard to a specific alter-egos and member states,
  • Expand writing and analytical skills through two seven-page research papers,
  • Travel to five-day international intercollegiate European Union simulation (EuroSim) hosted by the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

The University of Antwerp hosts the EuroSim event and provides all housing arrangements. In Prague, students will stay in hotels.
